'The Chairs' by Eugene Ionesco

adapted by Richard Negri
Old Man: I wanted to look. I do so enjoy looking at the water.
Old Woman: How can you dear? . . . It makes me quite giddy. Oh! This house,
this island, I shall never get used to it all. Water all around you . . . water under the
windows, water as far as the eye can see.
Old Man: Six o'clock in the evening and it's dark already. Remember? It was different
in the old days.
