Note. This series of costume drawings is unique in Negri's surviving archive of work in that all were drawn
without heads. This is surprising given Negri's conviction always communicated to his students that a costume
design stems from an understanding of 'who' the character is and that, in turn, tells the designer 'what' the
character would (should) wear.
